Questions & Answers
How do we book you?
I am represented by The Wedding Artists Collective - the amazing Lisa takes care of my bookings and schedule, allowing me more time to pursue creative endeavors. In order to confirm your date, a retainer (50% of the accepted quote) is to be paid and a signed contract. The remainder is due 4 weeks before the wedding date. All bookings are taken care of electronically. All prices are quoted in USD and subject to NY state tax of 8.875%.
Do you charge a travel fee to get to my wedding if its out of NYC?
For any wedding outside of the 5 boroughs of NYC there is a travel charge of $200.
For weddings that are more than 50 miles and/or 75 minutes drive from Williamsburg in Brooklyn, there will be a travel charge of $300 and hotel room(s) for 1 or 2 nights - dependent on where your wedding is, what time coverage ends and if you book in a second shooter.
For interstate & international weddings, the travel fee is generally the cost of my flights, 3 nights accommodation and car rental if needed.
We will provide you with a travel quote and all travel arrangements are booked by Samm Blake.
When do we get to see our photos?
I will have the collection of photographs ready for you to view 8-10 weeks after your wedding date. Each image is individually edited with great care not something to be rushed :)
Do you make wedding albums?
Yes I do! These are the custom designed books quoted in the previous pages. Each book is custom designed for each of my clients. You can view some of my designs here.
Can we order prints through you?
Yes, I have a client proofing website where you or your family and friends can order prints from. You can also take care of your own printing if you wish, but sometimes it’s easier on you to get family & friends to order through the website at galleries.sammblakeweddings.com
Can we see some full weddings you have photographed?
Yes, of course. You can view all my latest weddings at galleries.sammblakeweddings.com
Do you work with second shooters / assistants?
I work on my own and with second photographers depending on the details and size of the wedding. Generally as rule, weddings with a guest count over 120 guests I would recommend a second photographer, for less than, I feel confident photographing on my own. But I will be able to give you my recommendation given your exact plans for your wedding. For elopements & small weddings in NYC, I work on my own.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes, of course. If your venue requests a certificate, please let me know so I can arrange it.
Do you have backup gear?
Of course, lots of it :)
What’s the best time of day to go to the Clerks Office for our elopement?
Late afternoon sun is best for outdoor portraits - generally in the final two hours before sunset. This is my favorite time of day to shoot, so I prefer an afternoon Clerk’s Office ceremony so we can make the most of the late afternoon late for portraits afterwards. You just need to be inside of the clerks office by 3:45pm with a ticket number and they will conduct your ceremony that afternoon. From my experience, the most I have had to wait with a couple has been about 2 hours and the quickest being 15 minutes.
Can you help us with our timeline so we allow the right amount of time for photos etc?
Yes I am always helping my couples help with their wedding day timeline. Feel free to reach out to me anytime for help with this.
